What’s in it for your body?
Honey helps to loosen mucus, clear congestion, and resolve infections.
Onions contain antioxidant compounds that protect your body from damage and support your immune and cardiovascular systems.
Hibiscus is rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, promoting heart and liver health while enhancing the body’s natural antioxidant defenses.

How much do I use?
I suggest taking one to two tablespoons based on the severity of your cold and cough.
1 tbsp = 10 ml | 2 tbsp= 20ml
How to take this during a cold?
During a cold, I recommend taking this medication every four hours. I also pair it with my Wellness Shot. As I start to feel better, I reduce the dosage to twice a day or every six hours, eventually tapering down to once a day.
I suggest continuing this regimen for 7 days to ensure that you fully eliminate the infection and cold. While it’s great to notice your symptoms improving, it’s important to remember that the infection may still be present, so maintaining this treatment is crucial to prevent a recurrence.
How to use this as a preventive.
To use this as a preventive measure, I recommend incorporating it into your routine, especially during flu and cold seasons. You can also apply it as a spot treatment when you notice signs of a cold or flu.
What color onion should I use?
You can use any color of onion; the deeper the color, the more nutrients it contains. However, this depends on your preference, and I typically use what I have on hand.
Important onion note!
I strongly recommend against taking apart your onion unless you really enjoy a strong onion flavor. The honey will effectively extract the nutrients from the onion, so there’s no need to separate it into pieces. Instead, try chopping the onion into quarters while keeping the layers intact. Then, simply place the chopped onion neatly into your bowl or jar.

Get Better Syrup For Colds and Cough
Equipment
- Strainer
Ingredients
- 1/2 onion
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tbsp hibiscus 1 tea packet
- 1/2 tbsp elderberry see notes
- 1/2 tbsp enchincea see notes
Instructions
- First, chop your onion in half then into four quarters.
- Next, add hibiscus, elderberry, and echinacea to the bottom of a jar.
- Then place your onion inside make sure to keep those pieces together.
- Now add your honey and place your lid on the jar. Do not close the lid too tight but allow the jar to breathe overnight.
- Next day strain and keep in the fridge to use throughout the week.
